Public transport
Zurich is famous for its highly efficient, clean and safe public transport system. The network includes trams, buses, trains and boats. Trams and buses run from 5.30am to midnight and night buses depart from Bellevue hourly from 1am to 3am on Fridays and Saturdays.

Tickets work on a zone system with tickets valid for an hour which must be bought before boarding and validated immediately. A Tageskarte (one day ticket) is available for travel on all buses and trams for 24 hours marked on the machines by the green button and is the easiest ticket to buy. The ticket is also valid for boats in Zone 10.

Boat
Zurich has river buses and lake steamers. River boats operate in the summer months only and the lake boats operate on a limited timetable in the winter. The river buses operate between the Landesmuseum along the Limmat River and Zürich Lake to Tiefenbrunnen with stops along the Limmat River . The Zürichsee Schifffahrtsgesellschaft (ZSG) steamers leave from Burkliplatz at the end of Bahnhofstrasse and have a number of tourist trips a popular trip being to visit Rapperswil.

By train
The S-Bahn is Zürich's regional rail system with many local connections for day tours.

By bike
Bikes and skateboards are available free from 7 a.m. to 9.20 p.m. at the bike gate at the central train station and at other locations and is called "Züri rollt “".

By taxi
Taxis are expensive but easily available.
